A portrait is a photograph or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer. The candid moments are always the best but setups made for portraits are also good. I am basically a street photographer so I am not that good at clicking portraits.
I often click photographs of my friends and other happy faces around me. Nowadays dPs (Display Photographs) are a great concern of the people. People change their dPs more or less everyday. While some take selfies, some make their friends click photographs for them.
Being behind the viewfinder is often of sheer joy, to try and please the poser is indeed a Herculean task. That moment when they look bulkier or skinnier than their usual self, is indeed a hilarious sight. “dP-grapher” has been the term mostly used for these people. Although they are not highly esteemed in the beginners’ level by their seniors and contemporaries in the field, yet they manage to amass the esteem of their friends and kinsmen.

Your photographs compliment your article very nicely. Keep up your good work. 🙂
Good portraits does not need a super-glamorous model or content, all you need is a touch of life and happiness. Your photography is proof of those qualities. I loved them all. I liked the way you wrote your blog. Thanks for sharing your link.

Hi Aikantik. I really like your collection. But, I am in love with your first portrait. To me, photography is not about only clicking psychical structures only. A good photo captures the emotions as well. Thanks to Swarnava for telling the meaning of perfect portrait.
Wishing you lots of happiness in your life, buddy.
Obviously photography is not about you physical structures . It is always about the way the Photographer Sees . Thank you 🙂
Love your work! Blessings to you.
